CARNET RESTORATION LOGBOOK IPHONE · IOS 17 OR LATER UPDATED 15 SEPTEMBER 2026
Carnet is made by one person, and that person answers this mailbox: steadyhabit.support@gmail.com.
Write in English, German, French, Italian or Spanish. Expect a reply within two working days. If something is broken, saying which screen you were on and what you tapped will usually be enough to find it.
The things people ask first
How do I get my record onto a new phone?
Restore the new phone from your iPhone backup — iCloud Backup, or an encrypted backup made to a computer. Carnet’s data is part of that backup like any other app’s, and it comes back with everything: entries, parts, photographs, receipts and reminders.
Because Carnet has no server, there is no “log in on the new phone and sync” step. The backup is the transfer. If you are about to change phones and have never checked that backups are on, check now: Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup.
I paid, and the app is asking me to pay again.
Open Settings inside Carnet and tap Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the original purchase, and that the phone has a connection — buying and restoring are the only two things in Carnet that need one.
If it still will not restore, send us the date of purchase and we will sort it out. The unlock is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account; you never pay twice.
A photograph shows as missing.
This means the image file is no longer on the device, usually after a partial restore or a transfer that did not complete. Carnet deliberately keeps the record even when the file is gone: the plate number, the caption, the date and the entry it belongs to all survive, and the dossier prints the plate as missing rather than quietly dropping it and renumbering everything after it.
Tap the missing placeholder to point Carnet at the file again if you still have it elsewhere.
How do I get the dossier off the phone?
Export it, then use the iOS share sheet: AirDrop it, mail it from your own account, save it to Files, or send it to a printer. It is an ordinary PDF and it is yours.
If you are selling the car, turn on Leave the costs out before you export. Every figure disappears together — parts, receipts and totals — so the buyer gets the full history without learning what you paid for anything.
Why will it not convert my currencies?
By design, and it is the one request that will always be declined. A conversion needs an exchange rate; a rate needs a date and a network; and the result would be a number you never actually paid, sitting in a document a buyer relies on.
Carnet records what left your account, in the currency it left in, and stacks the totals one under the other.
A reminder did not notify me.
Check that notifications are allowed: Settings → Carnet → Notifications. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device, so they work with no signal — but iOS will not deliver them if permission was declined the first time it was asked.
Odometer reminders behave differently on purpose: they wait for you to record a reading, rather than firing on a date.
Can I delete a vehicle, or everything?
Yes. Deleting a vehicle removes its entries, parts, photographs and receipts with it, and Carnet says exactly what is about to go before it does anything. Deleting the app removes everything.
Both are final — there is no server copy to recover from. Export the dossier first if there is any doubt.
How much space is this using?
Open Settings → Storage inside Carnet. It shows what the photographs and receipts actually occupy. Images are downsized on import, so a multi-year record stays smaller than the camera roll it came from.
Reporting something broken
Send it to steadyhabit.support@gmail.com with as much of this as you have:
- The screen you were on, and what you tapped;
- What you expected, and what happened instead;
- Your iOS version and iPhone model (Settings → General → About);
- A screenshot, if the problem is visible.
If the app closed unexpectedly, please say whether it happened as you opened it or while you were doing something specific. That single detail is usually the whole diagnosis.
Requesting a feature
Worth asking for. Worth knowing what Carnet will not do, so nobody waits for it: no account, no cloud sync, no social features, no valuation estimates, no fuel-economy tracking, no Android and no web version. Those are not missing — they are the reasons the app works in a basement, keeps no data about you, and costs one price.
Refunds
Purchases are made with Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by the developer. Use reportaproblem.apple.com, or Settings → your name → Media & Purchases → Purchase History.
Your first vehicle is free and has no trial clock on it, so the whole app can be tested properly before anyone pays anything.
